In this hands-on children’s workshop combining age-appropriate history and anatomy with art instruction, students will create fully articulated self portraits with moveable parts in the tradition of Andreas Vesalius, often credited as the founder of modern human anatomy. Children will take turns having their outlines traced on oak tag and be provided with all the necessary materials and instruction for cutting, assembling, and decorating their posable anatomical models. A wide selection of non-toxic crayons, markers, pastels, and paper fasteners will be available. Each student will leave class with their finished piece in hand, ready to be displayed!
The two hour class will break in the middle so please pack a snack for your child. Parents are welcome to have a drink in our cafe upstairs or drop their kids off for the duration!
